Double the Points. Double the Wins.
February 18, 2012:
It was frosty. It was windy. It was Double Down Day. Most of all it was fun. Four Frosties showed up to bowl wearing their winter gear to keep them warm and focused. Bowlers had to take into account the gusts of wind from the southwest as they aimed for their mark -- a challenge, to say the least. Going into the 12th and final end of the game, the score was tied. It came down to the last 3 bowls rolled where the winning skip stole the shot and gained another, pulling ahead by 2 points and staying there.
Next week is the last week of the league. We'll be playing 2 6-end games and handing out prizes. Check out the latest standings for league members and drop-in players and weekly game results.
No Short Bowls
February 11, 2012:
This week three hardy bowlers braved the frosty temperatures to play 2 short 6-end games of cutthroat. Standings changed slightly. The lesson of the day - When you're down be up - especially in the short games.
Next week will be an interesting day. It's Double Down Day. It's still anyone's game. Check out the latest standings for league members and drop-in players and weekly game results.

Prognostication + Bowlification = 4 More Weeks of Frostitution
Washington Post, by Jason Samenow
February 2, 2012, 07:25 AM ET:
Punxsutawney Phil sees shadow, 6 more weeks of winter
At 7:25 a.m. this morning, amidst mostly cloudy skies, and temperatures in the low 30s, Groundhog Phil saw his shadow in the little town of Punxsutawney, Pa.
According to folklore, Phil’s sighting of his own shadow means there will be 6 more weeks of winter.
What does that mean to a Frostitute? We Bowl On! We love ya Punxsy Phil. Thanks for the forecast. You're our favorite prognosticator.
Be your own prognosticator. Take a hold of your future and plan to drop by the greens for the last 4 weeks of Bowlification in the Frostitutes League. Saturday's weather forecast is 51 degrees and mostly sunny!

February 9, 2011:
Ahhhhhhh....Love was on the greens tonight with the tride and true bowlers who just can't get enough. Cold hands, warm hearts and a hot cup of tea kept us going. You might say we're hooked on a feelin'. . . Ooogah ChaKa.
Life as a Frostitute - It's a LOVE Thing
We love the anticipation of the shot.
We love the feeling we get when the bowl kisses the jack.
We love the game.
Do you love it too? Come roll with us Wednesday night.
Doors open at 6 p.m. Bowls roll at 7 p.m.
February 2, 2011:
Our prediction was spot on. 6 Frosties beat Punxsutawney Phil and the rest of the den dwellers out to the greens tonight for an evening of fun. The agenda was a triples game of short jack. Ford Johnson, the youngest Frostie on the greens, is turning into quite a bowler. This young boy has his line down. With a little more work on the weight he'll be a serious contender. Watch out. Slow and steady wins the race with this one.
Punxsutawney Phil makes Ground Hog's Day prediction.
We've made a prediction of our own!
Feb. 2, 2011: PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. - THE PITTSBURGH CHANNEL.com
The world's most famous groundhog made his 125th annual weather forecast in front of thousands of revelers on a tiny hill in Punxsutawney Wednesday morning. Punxsutawney Phil emerged from his home around dawn. After a short time, his handlers announced Phil did not "see" his shadow, predicting an early spring.
We predict fun on the greens tonight at the Frostitutes league.
Show up for the excitment. Doors open at 6 p.m. Draw is at 7 p.m.

OnePunxsutawney Phil is immortal. According to folklore, the furry oracle was born in 1887, making him 123 years old. The average groundhog lives less than 10 years, making Phil a statistical anomaly. |
OneWe're younger and our legend lives on through eternity. Anomaly is our middle name. We're breaking through statistical barriers. We're bowling in February! Be a part of it. |
TwoPhil’s got competition. New York’s got Staten Island Chuck, Ohio’s got Buckeye Chuck, and Georgia’s got good ol' General Beauregard Lee. |
TwoJohn is there Wednesday nights providing a format of competition through February. Put yourself in the mix. |
ThreePhil’s gone high-tech. He may hail from the 19th century, but Phil’s getting word out in a decidedly 21st century way: he’s texting and YouTubing. |
ThreeFrostitutes hail from the sport that hails from the 13th century. We have the webcam! Does Phil have a webcam? |
FourGroundhogs, like Phil, frequent the areas where woodlands meet open spaces, like fields, roads, or streams. |
FourFrostitutes, like John, frequent the areas where woodlands meet open spaces, like rinks, parks, mountains and Puget Sound. |
January 26, 2011:
The numbers are climbing. 7 Frosties joined in the fun of the sport. No regrets here and memories were made. Will you be the next to add to the numbers and excitement? Next Wednesday is your next chance. Show up and play!
January 19, 2011:
5 Frosties turned out to play and strut down the rink, end after end. The weather was fair and the company was excellent. One Frostie was heard saying, "It was so dark out that I almost didn't show up - but I'm glad I did!" Don't be afraid of the dark. We'll turn the lights on for you. Come out and play on Wednesday nights!
Doors open at 6 p.m. and games start at 7 p.m.
January 26th's weather forecast is partly sunny with a high of 52 and a low of 41 - perfect for bowling in January!
Member drop-ins are welcome. See you on the greens.
