Jefferson Park Lawn Bowling Club Day Saturday Aug 5th

We know our club is awesome and the sport of 'bowls' is great fun. That's why we are always encouraging our friends and neighbors to give it a try! Now, thanks to Seattle Mayor Ed Murray, King County Councilmember Joe McDermott, and King County Executive Dow Constantine, it's official by City & County-wide proclamation.

Saturday August 5th 2017 is Jefferson Park Lawn Bowling Club Day!

Veteran Novice Tournament Saturday July 15th

Annual Veteran Novice Tournament July 15, 2017 10am-4pm

The Veteran/Novice Tournament teams up seasoned bowlers with members who may or may not have ever bowled in a tournament (new member- 3yrs) … aiming to prove that competition and fun are not mutually exclusive.

Watch the sunset, stay for the sunrise!

Update: One continuous pairs game for 24 hrs. The sun set and the bowling continued, it rose and still we bowled, 170 ends later the Blue Demons were declared the winners and a great time was had by all.

At 4pm today, July 3rd, two tenacious teams of 12 (The Red Wolves and The Blue Demons) will launch the longest game in JP history-again! We, the 24’ urge you all to come out and join us, to share in the buzz, applaud our tenacity, and keep the party going! Opening hoopla starts today at 4pm, first bowl rolls at 5pm. Final bowl, wrap up ceremony, and BBQ at 5pm tomorrow-Tuesday July 4th.
Hope to see you there….we ain’t going anywhere!

Mary Anderson 1910-2017

Mary and her husband Lloyd joined JPLBC in 1971. She served as the Board Secretary and was an active member for many years, often recognized for her leadership, foresight and cooperative spirit in business and in bowls. Mary passed away in the spring of 2017 at the age of 107. In addition to being avid lawn bowlers and outdoors people, Mary and Lloyd were the founders of REI in 1938.

Shirley Taylor 1934-2016

Shirley and her husband Al joined the club in 1982, She was a regular competitor in our tournaments and games and was always willing to work on club social activities. Shirley was part of the constellation of members that make JPLBC so unique.

Harold “Hal” Schwanke 1926-2016

Hal was a retired engineer from Boeing where he worked on the Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) program. He joined the club in 1990 and served as JPLBC Board President 1995-96. Hal played regularly in the Wednesday morning JP vs. Woodland Park competition. Harold was a strong supporter who regularly donated his time, talents and money to support his club. The flagpole we have today was generously funded by Hal.

Tacoma Bowls rises!

Hey TacomaBowls- welcome to the neighborhood!

A group of enthusiastic lawn bowlers are resurrecting the Tacoma Lawn Bowling Club located inside beautiful Wright Park.
Contact them through their Facebook page for more information and consider joining them for the weekly open draw game on Sunday mornings from 10-12. ($10 greens fee)
"The Tacoma lawn bowling green opened in 1936 to much fanfare and excitement. 81 years later, we are looking to recapture the enjoyment of this fun and social sport."
